SB+CO is a sustainability consultancy that advises companies on strategy, sustainability activation and integration, ESG, stakeholder engagement and communications – and frequently a combination of all of these.
Nigel Salter and Penny Baxter are the ‘SB’ in SB+CO, bringing a combined 50-plus years of expertise in sustainable business and corporate responsibility. Two decades ago, Nigel and Penny founded Salterbaxter, building it up into one of the UK’s top 10 sustainability management consultancies, before integrating it into the global Publicis Groupe.
Today, they lead a highly experienced and diverse team in London, with colleagues and associates across Europe and the US. Each of us at SB+CO is a passionate change-maker and this is reflected in the solid track record we have in helping some of the world’s largest corporations and iconic brands pivot their business models towards a more sustainable, equitable and successful future.

Partner and Senior Advisor
Nigel has over 25 years’ experience in this field. He has advised many global corporations on sustainability strategy and communications and the combination of these. His experience covers many sectors and all regions. He also chairs, leads or sits on multiple sustainability advisory boards and panels and is retained strategic counsel to several senior management teams. Nigel co-founded Salterbaxter in 1998 with Penny Baxter and they integrated this business into the Publicis Groupe.
He is also the co-author of 'Squaring the Sustainability Circle', with Annette Stube, Lene Bjorn Serpa and John Kornerup Bang, which looks at over ten years of working on sustainability together at the Maersk Group.

Partner and Senior Advisor
Penny has over 25 years’ experience advising major corporations on sustainability strategy and communications. She originally co-founded Salterbaxter with Nigel in 1998, and continues to advise global companies and brands at the unique intersection of strategy, engagement, and impact. She supports clients on sustainability programme management and implementation including advising governance forums, embedding strategy, and building credible communications.
With a clear understanding of the science and the power of creativity and storytelling, she helps bring sustainability into the real world.

Finance Director
Karin heads up the finance team at SB+CO, bringing 20 years’ experience of leading and managing finance functions. She partners with teams across the business to ensure clients and projects are supported by clear financial planning and management. By bridging the gap between our service offering and commerciality, she ensures we are resilient while offering great value to our clients. Prior to joining SB+CO she held a number of finance roles within the Publicis Groupe, working with Healthcare and Sustainability companies and she also worked with Penny and Nigel at Salterbaxter.

Consultancy Director
Nick leads SB+CO’s consulting team. Nick has advised many of the largest and most complex global corporations on sustainability issues, ranging from the commercial implications of the transition through to how to navigate the turbulent policy context. Prior to joining SB+CO he was Deloitte’s UK Sustainability Strategy Lead and Global Sustainability Lead for the Technology, Media and Telco sector. Previous to that, Nick led a Responsible Business Policy Team within the UK Government.

Senior Director, Communications
Leading SB+CO’s communications team, Kate specialises in solving knotty strategic comms challenges to deliver impact for diverse audiences from investors to executive teams, employees to shareholders, customers to consumers, and beyond. She has worked in sustainability communications for over 13 years, designing and directing evidence-based engagement strategies for global corporate, financial, and consumer businesses.

Sustainability Strategy Director
Kate is SB+CO’s climate strategy lead. She supports global businesses on setting and implementing climate transition plans, decarbonisation roadmaps, and climate risk mitigation strategies, and was previously seconded to the Transition Plan Taskforce. Kate has led large climate projects with global businesses that span from target setting to actual implementation, including managing the governance and programme delivery of climate ambitions.

Sustainability Strategy Director
Phoebe is an experienced sustainability strategist. She has particular expertise in the everchanging sustainability regulatory landscape, the creation of sustainability strategies, and social impact measurement. Having started her career in-house with Virgin Media O2, she then co-led the development of the Technology, Media, and Telecommunications sustainability practice at a big four consulting firm before joining SB+CO.

Sustainability Strategy Director
Tom partners with clients to apply a strategic lens to some of the most challenging issues faced in corporate sustainability. He has deep experience working with SB+CO’s private equity and asset management clients, helping them to navigate the increasing complexity of the market and regulatory landscape, whilst maintaining a simple, balanced approach to ESG. Tom has also worked extensively with businesses on sustainability governance and operating models, helping embed sustainability issues into business as usual.

Associate Director, Communications
Lynn is a communications consultant who partners with clients to develop their communications and stakeholder engagement strategies, and to execute impactful sustainability campaigns. Her experience working with multinational corporations spans the energy, agrifood, and healthcare industries. Prior to joining SB+CO, Lynn worked with start-ups, philanthropies, and NGOs to help them raise awareness of global issues and support high-level engagements.
