Avoiding the materiality data dump: Extracting insight to guide choices and action
Join our virtual session on Thursday 26th March:
Time: 3-4 pm GMT | 4-5 pm CET | EST 10-11 pm | CST 09-10 am
Location: Microsoft Teams
Many companies have now completed a double materiality assessment (or several…) and are sitting on mountains of information and data collected through this process. However, in lots of cases this hasn’t translated into useful insight that actually drives decision-making. The challenge we’ve heard time and again is how to translate this huge new data dump into usable formats that can actually help the business.
Materiality conclusions, TCFD analyses and mandatory disclosure requirements have determined the way many companies have identified and collected sustainability data. But how should they be simplified and packaged up in ways that allow for leaders and other functions to make use of them?
In this webinar, we’ll explore a simpler, more practical approach to establish the implications for the business of action or inaction on sustainability risks and opportunities. Double materiality doesn’t give all the answers, but it can be a valuable entry point to start posing the right questions to guide decisions on sustainability action.
What to expect
In this live session, we’ll cover:
How to assess commercial value at risk , using materiality as the starting point, alongside accepting the limitations of taking materiality conclusions at face value
What “good enough quantification” looks like, using simple assumptions to create credible ranges to limit where detailed modelling is required
How to articulate the cost of doing nothing versus doing something, to support prioritisation, investment decisions, and trade-offs. And how companies have effectively built board-ready narratives, turning sustainability risks into practical choices “if we do X, we will be in Y position by Z date”
